Juvenile Passenger Injured in OHRV Crash on Turbine Road

Berlin — On August 13, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Conservation Officers were notified of a crash involving a rental UTV on Turbine Road in Berlin. An emergency response was initiated by the Berlin Police Department, Berlin Fire Department, and a Conservation Officer.

Preliminary information indicates that a 17-year-old male was temporarily operating the UTV with another 17-year-old male passenger when the vehicle overturned as a result of reckless operation.

The juvenile passenger was transported out of the woods by members of his riding party and met by members of the Berlin Fire Department and Berlin Police Department. The juvenile passenger sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. He was transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin for medical evaluation and treatment.

The adult renter, identified as 45-year-old Charisse Edgar of Exeter, Rhode Island, was subsequently issued a summons for allowing a minor to operate an OHRV in a manner that endangered persons or property.

Conservation Officers remind OHRV operators that recreational vehicles can cause serious injuries when operated recklessly or at unsafe speeds. Operators and passengers should follow all applicable laws, safety requirements, and wear appropriate protective equipment.

Captain Dube, Lieutenant Leveille, and Firefighter Kenney are currently in Appleton Wisconsin performing final inspection on the new Ladder 1. This Pierce ladder truck will replace the current 1995 Simon Duplex ladder truck. Delivery is expected to take place later this summer.

Woman Injured in ATV crash in Berlin

Berlin – On Friday, July 31, at approximately 9:54 PM, New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified of an ATV crash with injuries in Berlin.

The operator of the ATV was identified as Teeana Caton, 32, of South Paris, Maine. Caton was operating on the Yamaha Connector Trail in Berlin when the crash occurred.

Caton was attempting to navigate a slight left turn on a rocky and uneven portion of the trail. While operating over a divot in the trail, Caton lost control of the machine, causing her to fall off the right side of the ATV and onto the hard ground. The ATV continued moving until it was ultimately stopped by trees on the left side of the trail. Caton was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and sustained multiple injuries as a result.

Caton was riding with a family member at the time of the crash. Directly after the crash, Caton made a 911 phone call requesting medical aid. The family member then transferred Caton onto his ATV and transported her to Route 110 in Berlin while they awaited arrival from emergency services. A prompt response from Conservation Officers, Berlin EMS and Berlin Police Department arrived on scene. Caton was ultimately transported by ambulance to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin for further evaluation of her injuries.
This crash is still under investigation at this time.

Conservation Officers would like to use this incident to remind OHRV enthusiasts to always operate with attention to changing trail conditions and wear protective gear.

Rider Injured from ATV Roll-Over in Success

Success-- On Monday July 27th, 2026, at approximately 3:35 PM, New Hampshire Fish and Game was notified of an ATV rollover with injury near Success Pond. New Hampshire Fish and Game as well as Berlin Fire and EMS responded to the scene of the crash.

Berlin EMS arrived on scene to evaluate the patient and utilized a side by side to extract the rider to a nearby ambulance. The rider was identified as Elizibeth Newton, 61, of Gorham, NH.

After an on-scene investigation and witness statements, it appears Newton was traveling on Success Pond Trail when she attempted to cross a culvert. While attempting to cross the culvert, she inadvertently hit the throttle causing her to lose control. She subsequently struck a down log and a tree causing her to be ejected off the ATV.

Newton was transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital to be evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries

Yesterday, Milan & Dummer EMS and Milan Fire Department were dispatched for a reported Motorcycle Accident with ejection.

Due to the mechanism of injury and out of an abundance of caution, the duty crew activated the Dartmouth Hitchcock Advanced Response Team - DHART to respond with a medevac helicopter.

Early arriving members of the fire department were members of our current Emergency Medical Responder course, and relayed pertinent and relevant patient updates to our responding ambulance.

Our Advanced Life Support crew after arriving on scene subsequently requested a mutual aid paramedic response from the Professional Firefighters of Berlin IAFF Local 1088.

The patient was safely packaged and transported by ground to AVH in Berlin and later flown to a regional trauma center.

In small communities, a coordinated multi-agency response isn't the exception, it's the norm. Thank you to our mutual aid partners for their support.

In honor of this year's 25th Anniversary of the September 11th attacks there will be a local event on the Summit of Mt. Washington.

The event "The Honor Summit, United in Remembrance of 9/11" will take place from September 9th-12th. During the hours of 8:00PM - 3:00AM the lights that are used to light the location of the towers in New York City will be lit on the Summit.
