Brewer Brook Trail Work Day was a great success!
We were able to close down the old cart path which stays wet for a large part of the year. So if you walk or hike the west (Pleasant St) side of the Brewer Brook area please follow the new trail!

A huge thank you to the volunteers who came out to do this work.

Survey work will be taking place along the Mass Central Rail Trail (MCRT) corridor in the coming weeks. This work is part of a planning and assessment effort to support future improvements along the corridor. Survey crews will be working within and along the rail right-of-way.

We are committed to minimizing any inconvenience and ensuring the work is completed safely and efficiently. Your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated as we carry out this work. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at [email protected].

Eager Woods is experiencing an exceptional owl banding season, with numbers nearing double those of the previous year. Our totals thus far include 88 banded Northern Saw-whet owls and 1 Barred Owl. Additionally, we had several notable recaptures including owls originally banded in Virginia, Michigan, and one that was previously banded by our team in the prior year.

*All banding, marking, and sampling is being conducted under a federally authorized Bird Banding Permit issued by the U.S. Geological Survey’s BBL

The Conservation Commission would like to give a big shout out to Lowe Home Improvement at Highland Commons for donating the necessary lumber to rebuild this foot bridge at the Brewer Brook Dam site. You can see the tree that took out the last one on either side! Also a big thank you to Walter Bickford and Ethan Bickford for donating your time, skills and energy!
