Berlin Police Department is proud to announce after months of investigation, a warrant for Hugo Mariera Esquilin was served as Esquilin was attempting yet another larceny at Berlin's Harbor Freight on 11/20/25. Esquilin attempted to flee officers and was captured after a foot pursuit and a Taser deployment.
This was an intensive investigation by our Patrol Division grouping 14 separate larceny counts into a larger count of Larceny 2nd Degree and Organized Retail Theft. In Berlin, Esquilin stole nearly $18k in merchandise and over $50k throughout the State of Connecticut. At the time of his arrest, Esquilin had 8 active PRAWN warrants as well as 5 additional warrants from other agencies.
