Proms, graduations and late-night celebrations are happening across New Hampshire right now.

For teen drivers, this season should be about memories, not choices they’ll regret. Parents, talk with your teens before they head out. Make sure they have a plan for where they are going, who they are with and how they are getting home.

Teen drivers: buckle up, put the phone away, stick to the speed limit and never get in the car with someone who has been drinking or using drugs.

One unsafe decision can change a life in an instant. Help make sure this season ends with smiles, photos and safe rides home.

What plans do you have in place to help keep your teen safe on the road this prom and graduation season? 🎓🚗

⚠️🐻⚠️In the past three weeks, the police department has received 9 complaints of bears in our neighborhoods. These are just the complaints reported to the department. The number one reason that bears enter the city limits is to find easy food sources. For the safety of the community, the department is asking residents to remove bird feeders, store garbage in secure locations, and do not put garbage out before the morning of your neighborhood’s scheduled collection day.

City Ordinance 12-26 states in part, “It shall be the duty of all persons residing in dwelling units within the City as well as all commercial and industrial establishments within the City to place all household refuse in suitable receptacles as may be approved by the director of public works and/or health officer and to place the same near the sidewalk or street on those mornings and at such times as designated by the director of public works as collection days……Refuse shall not be placed at the curb until the morning of the designated pick up day.”

Residents could be fined $100.00 for each violation of Ordinance 12-26. After due warning the Public Works Director could discontinue refuse collection services by the Public Works Department for violators.

The Police Department asks residents and property owners to cooperate to increase safety and reduce the number of bears in the community.
