September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month—a time to shine a light on sickle cell disease and the impact blood donations can have on those living with this inherited red blood disorder.

Why Sickle Cell Awareness Matters:
- It is estimated that about 1 in 13 Black or African American babies in the U.S. is born with sickle cell trait, and 1 in 365 are affected by sickle cell disease.
- Individuals with sickle cell disease may require up to 100 units of blood each year.
- Awareness helps reduce stigma, strengthen advocacy and build a supportive community.

Blood donation is one of the simplest ways we can make a big difference in someone’s life. Every day, donated blood is needed for patients facing surgeries, accidents, serious illnesses, cancer treatments, and medical emergencies. The need is constant, and every donation matters.

At our upcoming Blood Drive, we’re setting our goal at 20 pints of blood, and we need our community to help us get there!

One donation can make a meaningful difference. If you’re eligible to donate, please consider giving the gift of life—and encourage someone you know to donate, too.
