Today, we pause to remember Officer Germaine Casey. Officer Casey made the ultimate sacrifice on August 27, 2007, in the line of duty while serving in a presidential motorcade in support of President George W. Bush.
Officer Casey's courage, commitment, and selfless service to the Rio Rancho community and his country will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on through the officers who continue to serve with honor, the community he helped protect, and the loved ones who continue to carry his memory.
We honor Officer Casey's sacrifice and extend our deepest gratitude to his family, friends, and fellow officers.

Assistant District Attorney Jessica Perez and Chief Deputy Jessica Martinez, along with the Law Offices of the Public Defender’s Office volunteered for the second year of Law Camp, where 7th and 8th graders from around the state spent a week at UNM learning how to prosecute and defend someone in a criminal case. At the end of the it all they participated in a mock trial where each team did a fantastic job!

Jerry Baldonado was found guilty today by a Valencia County jury for 2nd degree criminal Sexual Pe*******on. Baldonado faces up to 10 years in incarceration which will be determined at a later date by a judge.
I'd like to commend the prosecution team, Chief Deputy Jessica Martinez, Senior Trial Attorney Natalie Johnson, Victim Advocate Lacey Cheney and Assistant Andrea Vasquez for their hard work and dedication on getting justice for the victim in this case.
