Next book club read … and we have a few available copies at the library!

A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham chronicles the turbulent family history of Chloe Davis, a successful psychologist whose father is a convicted serial killer. Published in 2022, A Flicker in the Dark explores the complexities of trauma as Chloe struggles to uncover the truth behind the tragic murders of various young women. A Flicker in the Dark was Willingham’s debut novel and features plot twists and flashbacks that suspensefully examine Chloe’s self-discovery while grappling with the violent deaths of women in her community.

The Cushman Library Trustees are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and community-minded individual to serve as our next Library Director.

As we begin this transition, we would like to thank Lori Novis for her hard work, dedication, and service to Cushman Library. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors and appreciate the many contributions she has made to our library and community.

We are excited to look ahead and welcome a new director who will help continue the library's mission of providing excellent service, fostering lifelong learning, and serving as a welcoming community resource for Bernardston residents.

Cushman Library’s summer reading program, Plant-a-Seed, is for all ages and is sprouting soon!

Here’s the info in a shell:

🌸Starts Monday, June 22 … we are open 1 - 7

🌽Harvest ends on Saturday, August 1

You may join at anytime, but the sooner you join, the more raffle prize tickets you can earn by: reading everyday, wearing the color of the week to the library and by completing the weekly scavenger hunt in the library.

We are deeply grateful to the Kiwanis Club of Bernardston for their generous annual contribution to this program which allows us to purchase so many wonderful raffle prizes.

It’s critical for school age children to read over the summer to maintain their cognitive health. Why not make it fun and participate in a summer reading program?

Spring has sprung at Cushman Library with all hands on deck: tending to our landscaping, rescuing and rehoming a painted turtle into our pond, installing our memorial fountain, and preparing our wrought iron fence for a fresh coat of paint.

Our library board of trustees and today’s crew of volunteers give so much of their time to make Cushman Library a beautiful and well-run space. We are so grateful!

And WAIT! Our new landscaper, Jason (ha, another J name 🥹) Bassett came early to help us before Memorial Day.

Next book club read is here!

Forget Me Not by Stacy Willingham

Summary — Claire seems to be following right in the footsteps of her big sister as she returns home to help her mom, but then finds herself working at a vineyard, the same one her sister worked at. There are definitely a lot of secrets hiding at this farm, and her career as a journalist has her wanting to uncover them. The diary she found tucked away in her cabin seems to be the key to solving everything, but the more she learns, the more she should turn around and run, but she doesn’t.

We will meet on Monday, May 11, 6:30 PM, around our comfy wooden table.
