Not the 4th I planned. I have a girl from France staying with us, so we decided to take her to The big boom celebration at Great Meadows. Because of the storm the para troopers and drone show were canceled. The flying circus just did a few fly overs and not their acrobatics show. They did put on a fantastic firework show. Drove home and Howlesville was closed due to I believe a power line down. Had to drive another hour to come in the back way A road to get up to my house was closed due to a tree being down. We parked at the end, walked 20 yards and was picked up by a neighbor (at 1130 pm). which brought us back to the house. Have been without power since 630. I have fantastic neighbors and I am so greatful. Thank you Chris. I owe you another Lasagna. I think I am going to save the ice cream and have some.

Remember, we have the following events this week:

🇺🇸 Friday, May 22 at 11 AM: The Senior Center at Chet Hobert Park is hosting a full program and hot lunch. Post 41's Will Nelson will again be the keynote speaker.

🇺🇸 Saturday, May 23 9 AM at Green Hill Cemetery: Place larger stick flags with the Post, VFW, Scouts and general public on veterans graves. The property was established in 1871 and is the final resting place for more than 1000 of our veterans.

🇺🇸 Sunday, May 24 2 PM at Rose Hill Park (Berryville): The highlight of the honor we feel on Memorial Day is ever present by attending the full program including the Clarke County Color Guard, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Clarke County High School Choir and Band, a local pastor and keynote speaker, and a retired USAF General from our area. There is a public reception immediately following at the VFW Hall.

We hope to see you there!

We have a busy and exciting week ahead! Join us as we remember, honor, and celebrate Memorial Day with the Berryville, VA community.

Join us to celebrate our women of service!

You know her. You are her. She’s the one who always shows up. The one who checks in, steps in, and stays late when something needs to be done. She doesn’t do it for recognition. She does it because she cares.

On March 8, join the American Legion Auxiliary Foundation for the fourth annual Celebrating Women of Service Day, dedicated to women who lead by showing up, pitching in, and lifting others as they go. They don’t seek the spotlight. Instead, they lead with care and shared purpose, strengthening their communities and advancing the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Honor a woman who leads with purpose by making a gift in her name to the ALA Mission Endowment Fund, an investment in the future of the ALA mission and the women who carry it forward. Because leadership rooted in service changes everything.

Make a gift in her honor by texting WOMAN to1-844-940-3450 or by visiting our website, donate.legion-aux.org

Unit 41 had a busy end to 2025 and we are off to a great start for 2026! November had some great Veterans Day programs, including honoring a local World War II veteran. In December, some members helped select and wrap gifts for veterans at the VA hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia. At the end of the year we had over 100 calendars to donate to the USO. And finally, we donated clothing items to the VA hospital with a value of $1650! thank you to our local Post, Rotary club, Girl Scouts, and all the community members who help make our unit’s mission of supporting our military and veterans a success.
