Yielding to Funeral Processions in Arkansas
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists to use caution, patience, and respect when encountering a funeral procession on Arkansas roadways.
Under Arkansas Code § 27-49-113, a properly identified funeral procession has the right-of-way at an intersection once the lead es**rt vehicle lawfully enters it. Arkansas law also prohibits drivers from driving between vehicles in a funeral procession or otherwise interfering with the procession.
Motorists are reminded to:
Yield to the procession
Never drive between vehicles in the line
Follow directions from law enforcement or es**rt personnel
These processions are important moments for grieving families, and the public’s cooperation helps protect both safety and dignity on our roadways
