GREAT TURNOUT

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hi and get some candy last night. By far it was the most candy I handed out on Halloween. Congrats to the two youngsters who tied for best costume.

10/31/2020

HALLOWEEN FUN

I will be at City Hall Handing out treats starting at 5:30 PM. There will be a $100.00 prize for the best costume.

If you are preparing goodie bags, wash your hands with soap and water.

BE SAFE!!!!!

Accompany young children on their neighborhood rounds. Agree on a specific time when they should return home.

Bring flashlights

Only go to homes with a porch light on.

Never enter a home or car for a treat. Notify law enforcement about any suspicious or unlawful activity.

Watch for cars. Pedestrian injury―is the most common injury to children on Halloween.

Stay in groups

Remember reflective tape for costumes and trick-or-treat bags.

Carry a cell phone for quick communication.

Motorists may have trouble seeing trick-or-treaters. Just because one car stops, doesn't mean others will!

Parents make sure nothing dangerous is put in their bag.

SERIAL NUMBERS

It is important to to keep a list of the serial numbers of your valuables especially firearms. I always advise having a photograph of each one also. It's surprising how many are eventually recovered when I can put that number into the National Identification System.

PINK IS IN

Pink Patches are available again for October. They are $10.00 and available at city hall. 100 percent of profits from patches and monetary donations go to individuals in our area suffering from cancer. Watch for local business specials that will also be donating profits to our area cause.

Our pink badge patch was created to bring awareness to breast cancer. Pink ribbons, and the color pink in general, identify the wearer or promoter with the breast cancer brand and express moral support for women with breast cancer. Pink is most commonly seen during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

HUNTER DAZZLES

Passing your latest certification training is impressive. But Hunter notching a perfect score while doing it at a North American Working Dog Association (NAPWDA) Certifications makes his daddy proud.

Police Department K-9 handlers and their canine partners from Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, and North Dakota are in West Fargo Wednesday and Thursday for certifications.

A lot of hard work and dedication goes into training and maintaining a police K-9. Being a member of NAPWDA requires maintaining a high degree of professionalism and hard work.

A special Thank You to April Carlberg for the nice gift today. April witnessed a vehicle hit two dogs in Carpio. She brought the least injured dog into her vehicle to keep it safe. I rushed the other dog to the vet but he passed away while there. The dog owner was in jail and the individual who was left to care for the dogs was later charged with and convicted of animal neglect.

The owner agreed to let April foster the other injured dog. April nursed the dog back to health and incurred expensive vet bills. The owner eventually gave up his rights to the dog. Not only had the dog been injured but she was suffering from neglect and had to have many teeth extracted.

The dog is now healthy and being loved by her new family. We really do have real heroes amongst us.

She is the one on left

Thanks April!!!
