The cost of freedom is high, and today we honor those who paid it with their lives. Your service, your sacrifice, and your dedication to something bigger than yourself -- it all made a difference. We'll continue to carry your family in our hearts as your legacy unfolds in all who knew and loved you. Words can't express the depths of our gratitude.

It's National EMS Week! Our emergency medical partners play a pivotal role in saving lives every single day. We work closely with them and have enormous gratitude for the work they do.

Special shout out to the Tactical Rescue Paramedics in our LCSO Emergency Operations Medical Unit. From wildfires to backcountry rescues to high-risk calls and everything in between, these two cover a LOT of ground. Not only have they stabilized patients in extreme environments and supported fatigued firefighters in the midst of major blazes, they also provide regular in-house training to staff so more people have the tools to save lives when seconds count.

To all of our EMS friends, THANK YOU. Your service means the world to so many, and we appreciate you more than we can say!

NATIONAL PEACE OFFICERS MEMORIAL DAY

Last year, 111 peace officers lost their lives in the line of duty. Today, we honor these individuals and all who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving others, especially members of our LCSO family who gave everything:

💙James Mitchell - End of Watch 07/15/68
💙Robert Watson - EOW 1/5/79
💙John Saxerud - EOW 11/14/87
💙Hugh Martin - EOW 4/13/92
💙Ronald Beatty - EOW 10/10/95
💙Travis Sass - EOW 6/29/04

No matter how much time passes, we'll continue to carry their light and legacy.

This day serves as a stark reminder of the risk that peace officers face every day when they put on the uniform. Today and every day, we remember their lives and recognize the families of the fallen.

Rest easy, heroes. We've got the watch from here.

It’s National Police Week! We always appreciate those who wear the badge, but this is a week to pause and recognize those who embody what it truly means: a selfless shield between good and evil, a living line between order and chaos.

They aren’t superhuman. They’re our moms and dads, brothers and sisters, friends and neighbors. There isn’t a simple script or an easy button for what they do. They put on the uniform and come to work every day anyway. Sometimes the work comes home with them. It’s a calling that’s equal parts rewarding and challenging.

To all who dedicate their days (and nights, weekends, holidays, and milestones moments) to serve others and protect our community, and to your families at home… we see you and we thank you! 💙
