This week, Beyond the Book visited East Berwick Elementary and West Berwick Elementary Schools over two days, reading with every kindergarten and first-grade student: kindergarteners enjoyed They’re Heroes Too by Pat Brisson through Real Men Read, and first graders explored I’ve Got Feet! by Julie Murphy through Real Teens Read.

Thank you to our 25 volunteer readers for sharing your time and helping our youngest readers build a love of reading!

A heartfelt thank-you to Berwick Industries, Inc and QTS for sponsoring Beyond the Book and making these reading experiences possible!

We’re also grateful to Danielle Pearson from the FTC Teen Center Berwick and Ms. Smith from the Berwick Area School District for their help with coordination and day-of tasks.

We’ll return in November with Seed, Sprout, Pumpkin, Pie by Jill Esbaum for kindergarten and Planets by Elizabeth Carney for first grade.

Give Like Dolly Day was September 25, and we’ve been so excited to see the impact of your generosity unfold!

Together, our community raised over $4,500 to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library! 🎉📚

And we ended September with an increase of 30% in new children registered for the program, serving a total of 276 children—meaning even more local little readers will have a brand-new, age-appropriate book delivered to their home every month, completely free.

To everyone who gave, hosted a fundraiser, shared our message, or helped spread the word—THANK YOU! 💗

Your generosity isn't just supporting a program. It's putting books into the hands of children, encouraging a love of reading, and helping build brighter futures right here in our community.

Thank you for partnering with us last Friday and for Giving Like Dolly! We appreciate the Berwick Area YMCA and their members! 💙

Working 9 to 5… raising funds to help kids thrive!

On September 25, our Y teamed up with the Berwick Area United Way for a little Dolly Day in support of Dolly’s Imagination Library!

Our members got into the spirit by dressing like Dolly, showing off their best country-glam looks, and donating to help put books into the hands of local children.

A big thank you, thank you, thank you! to everyone who joined in and helped us turn a little fun into something that makes a BIG difference.

Because when we work together, we can make a whole lot of dreams come true!

During the Bloomsburg Fair and at their Rohrbach’s Farm Market location today, Freas Farm Winery is donating a portion of their proceeds to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library right here in our community. 📚✨

Every dollar raised helps us put free, high-quality books into the hands and homes of local children from birth to age 5. ❤️

Through Berwick Area United Way’s Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, children from birth through age 5 receive a new, age-appropriate book FREE every month. 📖💙
