Today we took the Special Olympics torch from North Berwick PD and handed off to South Berwick PD as leg 1 started the annual run for a worthy cause.

Jardin Property Services offered to spruce up the Gallant Memorial in front of the Police Department. They were completing the work on Memorial Day in the pouring rain in time for Ms. Gallant’s annual visit with the Police Department. She loved the new look. York Woods Tree & Products donated the mulch and flowers for the project.

Parade reminder. Expect delays.

The Berwick and Somersworth Memorial Day Parade begins at 11:00am on Monday, May 25th. Expect traffic delays between 10:30am and noon in the downtown. Brief services will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Park, Somersworth-Berwick Bridge and Sullivan Square. Please plan accordingly.

It is an honor for the Berwick Police Department to once again be involved with the Maine Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run. The run will begin on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 and end at the State Summer Games on June 6, 2026.

Our department has raised funds for the Special Olympics for several years and we hope that you consider the Maine Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run if you are to support a charity this year.

Special Olympics Maine has a 2025 Kawasaki Teryx S LE with a trailer. The retail value is $19,000. The drawing will be held at noon on October 30, 2026. Raffle tickets are available for $20.00 each. Please stop by the Police Department for more information. We will also be selling tickets during the American Legion Car Show on June 7, 2026, which is held in Sullivan Square.

All donations raised, stay within the State of Maine to help support our local athletes. In Maine, there are over 5,000 athletes involved with the program. In addition to sports, Special Olympics Maine provides numerous socialization opportunities at lake front summer camp (Camp Tall Pines), travel, free medical screenings, athlete leadership positions, self-esteem building and the chance to develop friendships that last a lifetime.
