Reference to the Hope Chest comments and concerns:

I believe God has us covered. It's simply unbelievable and amazing. I was in office today meeting with a key sponsor hours before the state came in. We already talked about a plan. I do believe she talked to Tracy head of CRC.

Funny thing, Tracy Larish popped in and had walked by him leaving. I asked for her to yell/have the gentleman come back but signals were crossed.

But we CRC & BATS have a plan. We just need time to fully put it together.

We are here to support the community the best we can. Together we can make the best difference.

Thank you everyone for your support. I do believe we are being watched over. For He has a plan. His timing is what matters.

Today was extremely busy and aplogize if case management office time is limited. I am working hard with catching up on Assistance Applications along with walk- in intakes, etc.

I, Frank Spaid as case manager for BATS, have been spending a lot of Street Outreach time. I've been assisting with other agencies with some emergent concerns and with case management.

We are actually seeking more volunteers to help keep doors open for the Drop In Center--ultimately part of our goal.

We would also appreciate assistance with Intake services. This would be reviewed per volunteer due to confidentiality, responsibility, & training.

If interested
We have Applications online or arrange a meet & greet to review. Also seeking members to fill committee seats, too.

The Community Hope Chest Update

After two years with the Hope Chest. We recently received a visit from the Department of Agriculture regarding an anonymous complaint. While I may wonder who made the complaint, honestly, it doesn’t matter. We were already working on improvements due to previous concerns and feedback.

Moving forward, ONLY non-perishable and sealed items may be placed in the Community Hope Chest.

Fresh food services will now be moved indoors. A licensed RD/LDN has offered to sponsor food preparation and oversee food handling and serving procedures. We will be scheduling sponsored lunches in collaboration with CRC and ourselves here at Berwick Area Transitional Services.

During scheduled meal times, doors will be open for pickup or for anyone who would like to sit down and eat here. For meals, we will ask participants to complete a simple registration form. This helps us better document the need for these services and may assist with future funding opportunities and expanded community programs.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we continue working to expand services and better serve our community.

Again, the Community Hope Chest is for NON-PERISHABLE ITEMS ONLY.

If this policy cannot be followed, we may have to remove the Hope Chest entirely.

Thank you all for your continued support, and thank you to Shane from the Department of Agriculture Food Safety Division for helping guide us as we work toward serving the community safely and responsibly.
