Alderman Richard E. Leja -3rd Ward

Alderman Richard E. Leja -3rd Ward This page is only for me to disseminate information. Hello fellow 3rd Ward neighbors and Facebook friends! Thank you for visiting my page.

I hope to connect with you in person sometime soon. I humbly serve our community as your 3rd Ward Alderman for the City of Berwyn. I was sworn in May 11, 2021, and have enjoyed and learned so much since. I am currently the Chair for the City’s Fire & Police Committee and aldermanic member of the Administration Committee and Budget, Finance, & Revenue Committee. I love meeting ward members and regu

larly pay visits to new residents along with my wife of 46 years, Patricia. Having an informed ward is important to me, and I make every attempt to ensure new neighbors have the information they need to navigate city services, such as the New Resident packet or When Permits Are Needed. My priority is the safety and health of the community. My strong advocacy as Chair for the Police & Fire Committee, and with the support of my aldermanic colleagues, have resulted in the successful passage of proposed motions by the Berwyn Police and Fire administration. One of these successes culminated in the purchase of an Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) camera system to assist in criminal investigations and to deter criminal acts from occurring within the city limits of Berwyn, in an effort to make the 3rd ward and the entire city, a safer community for our residents. During my campaigning as alderman, many residents identified the boom of the rodent population as a community health problem, an issue propagated from the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Together with ward leaders, we initiated the 3rd Ward monthly Community clean-ups, the first for the 3rd Ward. There is much more work to accomplish in the ward and I enthusiastically look forward to doing so together. Be a part of the 3rd Ward family, and help support our ongoing efforts by considering donating to my campaign. Link below:

Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago
MWRD issues Overflow Action Alert:
With heavy rain expected in the Chicago area today, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) encourages area residents and business owners to reduce water use during and after the storm to help prevent flooding and protect water quality:

💦Delay showers and baths.

☔️Flush less frequently.

🌧️Wait to run the dishwasher or washing machine.

“Our staff is managing billions of gallons of water at our seven water reclamation plants and through our Tunnel and Reservoir Plan which is operating to protect our water environment and mitigate flooding,” said MWRD President Kari K. Steele. “We encourage everyone to conserve water when possible to create more capacity in our systems.”
