One of our park squirrels has gone rogue… and apparently ran off with a Brewfest gift certificate!

We’ve hidden a squirrel plushie somewhere in one of our parks, and it’s carrying a Brewfest Light Ticket gift Certificate and a koozie for one lucky finder!

And while you’re out hunting, don’t forget that today is the last day for Early Bird Brewfest Tickets.

Brewfest is Saturday, October 3 from 1–5 PM at Proksa Park, and early bird tickets start at just $35. Prices go up tomorrow, September 1!

Sweet Tales & Treats

Storytime just got a whole lot sweeter!

Each week, children and their caregivers will join Jelly’s Sweets for an interactive storytime, followed by a hands-on decorating activity inspired by the book. Young bakers will decorate a cookie, cupcake, or other sweet treat while building creativity, fine motor skills, listening skills, and social interaction.

Then, it’s snack time! Children can enjoy their delicious creations together and make some sweet memories along the way.

This is a Parent & Me class, and adult participation is required.

LET’S MAKE ART!

Every child is an artist! Let their creativity take the lead in Let’s Make Art, a hands-on class where stories inspire creativity and imagination.

Each week, children will listen to a story and then create their own artwork inspired by the book while learning a new art technique. They’ll experiment with a variety of materials, including watercolors, paint, clay, markers, and oil pastels.

It’s all about exploring, creating, and having fun, not creating the “perfect” masterpiece. And yes, things might get a little messy, so dress for the occasion!

Little artists, big imaginations! Mini Messy Makers is a sensory-rich art experience where kids can explore colors, textures, and all kinds of creative materials. Each week, they’ll experiment with paint, water, clay, collage, and more, with the focus on the fun of creating rather than making a perfect masterpiece.

Just remember to wear clothes that can get messy!

Last week, Kids Around the World came to Proksa Park to carefully dismantle our old playground, giving it the opportunity for a second life in a new community.

Kids Around the World partners with agencies to bring play spaces to underserved communities. Once a playground is removed, it is meticulously refurbished at their warehouses and transformed into a vibrant new play space in an area that needs it most.

We've been grateful to hear the stories that families and park-goers have shared about enjoying this play space for the last several years, and as one chapter closes at Proksa Park, we're incredibly excited about what comes next. We can't wait to see the new Proksa Park Playground come together and create a space our community can enjoy for years to come.

For now, we ask that everyone please stay out of the fenced construction areas and give our construction crews plenty of space to safely do their work. We appreciate your patience as we work toward something new and exciting for Proksa Park!
