Joshua M. Bowman

Joshua M. Bowman I'm running for City Council in Berwyn as 2nd Ward Alderman because Berwyn is a city full of potential, where everyone should have the opportunity to thrive.

Together, we can build a future that honors Berwyn’s rich history and embraces accountability. Hello Berwyn! I’m excited to share a little about myself with you. I was born and raised on the north side of Chicago with 7 brothers and sisters, where I learned the value of hard work, resilience, and the importance of family and community. Those humble beginnings have shaped who I am today and fueled

my passion for making a difference whether it be at home, as a professional in Real Estate Technology, or in my community. Why I’m Running:

I am running for 2nd Ward Alderman because Berwyn is a community full of potential, where every resident should have the opportunity to thrive. With 14 years of experience in software, real estate, and compliance management, I have developed a strong foundation in problem-solving, strategic planning, and community building. My background has equipped me with the skills necessary to tackle the challenges our ward faces, from improving infrastructure to enhancing public services. I want to bring a fresh perspective to local government, one that prioritizes transparency, accountability, and proactive community engagement. Key Objectives:

Strengthen Community Engagement: Delivering proactive communication ensuring residents have a direct line of being informed by their elected officials. I will work hard for a platform for you to voice concerns, share ideas, and stay informed about local developments on a regular basis. Digital Accessibility: Leveraging my experience in technology, I will push for better digital tools for residents to engage with the city, including a more user-friendly website and mobile apps for city services. Enhance Public Safety: Neighborhood Watch Programs: Strengthen and expand neighborhood watch programs across the 2nd Ward to foster community collaboration in ensuring safety. Police-Community Relations: Promote initiatives that improve relationships between law enforcement and residents, ensuring that our police force is both trusted and effective. Roads and Sidewalks: Prioritize the repair and maintenance of our roads and sidewalks, ensuring that all residents have safe and accessible routes. Parks and Green Spaces: Advocate for the enhancement and maintenance of our parks and green spaces, recognizing their importance for community well-being and environmental sustainability. Business Incentives: Develop incentive programs to attract and retain local businesses, particularly those that align with the community’s needs and values. Revitalize Commercial Areas: Focus on revitalizing underutilized commercial areas to create vibrant spaces that drive economic growth and provide jobs for residents. Smart Growth: Ensure that new real estate developments are sustainable and align with the long-term needs of the community, avoiding overdevelopment while promoting affordable housing options. Homeowner Support: Provide resources and support for homeowners, particularly in managing property taxes and home improvements. Goals for My Term:

Transparency and Accountability: Implement measures that ensure residents have clear insight into how decisions are made and how funds are allocated in our ward. Sustainable Growth: Work towards a balanced approach to growth that respects our community's character while meeting future generations' needs. Resident-Centric Policies: Always prioritize policies that reflect the values and needs of the residents, ensuring that the 2nd Ward is a place where people are proud to live, work, and raise their families. Running for 2nd Ward Alderman is an opportunity to bring my expertise in strategic planning, operations, and community engagement to the service of Berwyn. I am committed to working tirelessly to address the concerns of residents, improve our local infrastructure, and create a vibrant, safe, and inclusive community. Together, we can build a future that honors Berwyn’s rich history while embracing the possibilities of tomorrow.

I recently saw someone on social media asking about emergency medical bracelets for a loved one living with dementia, and it reminded me that many people may not realize there’s actually a local program that can help, for free.

For those who may not know: Berwyn Township Public Health District offers a free Emergency Medical I.D. Bracelet program for residents who have a medical or mental health condition — including dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, severe allergies, or other health concerns. These bracelets can provide critical medical information and emergency contact details to first responders if someone becomes disoriented or needs assistance.

This simple bracelet can make a real difference by helping first responders quickly identify someone and contact loved ones in an emergency.

If you think a family member or loved one could benefit from this program, you can learn more and apply here: https://berwyntownship.org/township/general-assistance/emergency-medical-i-d-bracelet-program/?fbclid=IwY2xjawQdLgFleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFRZzIzU3BTRXZtYjFFc3Vqc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHgLg9-LuaVmzL9MOcbaeJL0deAtj_sIaZ5C142VHCQeW0gS9Xeq_hGwXC8i2_aem_xBZM4c-Zeib_DV8Tjsk4cw

The 2026 municipal budget opened the door to slot machines in city bars and restaurants—but some doubt the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
