Bessemer City City Hall and administrative facilities will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.

City offices will reopen Tuesday, September 8.

TRASH COLLECTION UPDATE:
Waste Pro will not collect trash on Monday, September 7. For the remainder of the week, collection will occur one day later than normal:

Monday → Tuesday
Tuesday → Wednesday
Wednesday → Thursday
Thursday → Friday
Friday → Saturday

This is it! Ella May's long awaiting memorial will be unveiled on the anniversary of her assassination, September 14th. There will be a gravesite memorial at 4:00 PM. The unveiling of the 50 foot mural will take place at 5:00 PM followed by live music, snacks of the period, and historical reenactment at Centennial Park. Guided walking tours to Ella's mill will be available at 5:45 and 6:15. Come celebrate Ella, give tribute to our labor history, and be inspired to continue the fight for social justice.

The City of Bessemer City is hosting a OneBlood blood drive on Thursday, August 27, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Bessemer City Pool.

All donors will receive a $20 e-gift card and a special OneBlood T-shirt as donor incentives. Additional donor incentives may be announced as we get closer to the blood drive.
