NOTICE
NORTH THAYER ROAD CLOSURE (MARENISCO TOWNSHIP)

BESSEMER, Mich.--The Gogebic County Road Commission (GCRC) reports that North Thayer Road between US-2 and Sucker Lake Road, Marenisco Township, will be CLOSED to thru traffic from 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10th through 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12th.

The reason for the closure is for geotechnical investigation at bridge crossing of North Thayer Road over the Cisco Branch of the Ontonagon River.

NOTICE
SEASONAL WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS – 2026

Effective at 8:00 a.m. central time on Friday, March 6, 2026 the Gogebic County Road Commission Spring Weight Restrictions will be in effect.

Local and Primary County Road System – Shall follow the Michigan Frost Laws that require a 35% reduction in axle loading.

All Season roads are exempt from restrictions. A list of those roads can be found on our website at www.gogebiccountyroadcommission.org.

The Gogebic County Road Commission shall monitor the frost action on our roads for the remainder of the weight restricted season.

On Feb. 3, 1956, highway speed limits of 65 mph by day and 55 mph by night went into effect in Michigan. Before that, motorists were expected to decide for themselves what was a “safe and reasonable” speed.

The Copper Peak property is under constant video surveillance.

NOTICE
Stone Road and Stone Hill Road Closure (BESSEMER TOWNSHIP)

BESSEMER, Mich.--The Gogebic County Road Commission (GCRC) reports that Stone Road near Stone Hill Road intersection, Bessemer Township, will be CLOSED to thru traffic on weekdays effective immediately through December 19, 2025.

Work hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The road will be open to through traffic outside of these normal work hours and work on weekends is not planned.

The reason for the closure is for the Section 32 Sewer / BASA Project.
