⚠️ SEVERE WEATHER ALERT – STAY WEATHER AWARE TODAY ⚠️
The National Weather Service has placed our area under an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe thunderstorms along the Wisconsin border, with a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) covering the remainder of the county. Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon into this evening.

• Damaging wind gusts
• Large hail
⚠️ Secondary Hazards:
• Heavy rainfall that could lead to isolated flooding
• Frequent lightning
• An isolated weak tornado cannot be ruled out

The greatest potential for strong to severe storms will be late this afternoon through the evening hours.

Be Prepared
✅ Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings
✅ Charge cell phones, power banks, medical devices, and oxygen equipment in case of power outages
✅ Secure loose outdoor items that could become airborne in strong winds
✅ Move vehicles to shelter if possible to protect them from hail damage
✅ Avoid flooded roadways — Turn Around, Don't Drown
✅ If a warning is issued, move indoors and away from windows immediately

Thunderstorms ahead of a cold front will bring the potential for strong to severe winds to the western UP tonight. In addition to the wind and lightning hazards, rainfall totals of up to 1 inch will further increase flooding risk, especially for rivers and small streams.

Gogebic County could see strong to potentially severe thunderstorms later this evening.
