The Bethany Beach Police Department proudly recognizes the hard work and dedication to our mission demonstrated by PFC Meredith.

On Friday, February 20th, 2026 PFC Meredith was awarded the Joshua M. Freeman Officer of the Year Award for the Bethany Beach Police Department. This recognition stems from an incident that occurred on Saturday, May 24th, 2025 while he was working an overtime assignment. During that incident, PFC Meredith exercised sound judgment and demonstrated exceptional use-of-force skills to safely take a violent offender into custody.

We congratulate PFC Meredith, along with all of this year’s recipients, for their commitment to keeping our community safe.
