With frigid cold entering into our area over the next few days, the Sheriff’s Office will be open as a warming center. If we reach capacity, the next phase will be implemented and a larger venue will be opened.

The address for the first stage of the warming center is 1501 Central in Bethany.

In addition to spreading Christmas Joy over the last week, the Sheriff’s Office gained a new deputy.

Dustin Robinson recently graduated from the MWSU Police Academy and joined the ranks. If you see him out and about congratulate him on his success and welcome him to the team!

It has been a busy season for the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office. Monday 12/16 we hosted our annual Shop with A Cop event.

Today 12/22 local law enforcement was able to deliver a Christmas surprise to a local family. Both events were made possible by the Law Enforcement Assistance Fund and local donors. Without the support of the community neither event would be possible!

**SCAM ALERT**

FYI, the Sheriff’s office will not call and ask for money or threaten to send a deputy to your home to detain you if not paid.

The newest scam going around is someone calling and stating that the victim is a subject of a federal subpoena and that they owe money to make it go away.

1. Subpoenas will be hand delivered by a deputy.
2. Money will not be exchanged with the Sheriff’s Office to remove the subpoena.
3. A deputy will not call and threaten arrest via phone.

**Reminder**

Emergency services will be conducting a drill tomorrow 10/14/2025. If you see emergency services in action, give them a little extra room. This comprehensive training levels the playing field when disaster strikes in our county.

Again, this is just a drill, no need to panic. This will include the Harrison County Community Hospital, area law enforcement, area ambulances and fire departments.
