📞It’s here! Today marks the kick-off for National Public Safety Telecommunicator’s Week, better know as Dispatcher’s Week!

📞Each year in April we pause to say THANK YOU to the incredible folks not only in our area, but nation wide, who relentlessly answer the calls for service citizens place.

📞Since 911 began in 1968, there has been of necessity someone to answer the call. While much has changed in the world of 911, one thing has not, quality people who care that are dedicated to serving their communities. We are most grateful for them.

📞We would also like to say THANK YOU to our incredible communities who thought enough of our folks to adopt them, IN RECORD TIME! I believe all were placed in less than a week!

📞If you see your local dispatchers out and about, be sure to say hello (although they may growl at you unless the appropriate caffeinated beverage is offered) and thank them. The calls are answered because of them.

Thank you to all who participated!

We still have some dispatchers that need “adopted” for National Public Safety Telecommunicator’s Week in April!

First, I would like to say THANK YOU to those that have already reached out and snagged some of our guys and gals! Much appreciated!

Second, if you or your business are interested in helping us show our hard working crew some support and appreciation, you can still adopt a dispatcher in a few ways:

1. Comment on this post
2. Call the LEC at 660-425-3199
3. Send us a DM
4. Send an Email to [email protected]

You will be provided with an “about me” sheet to give you an idea of what to include in their gift.

Gifts can be dropped off at the LEC 24/7, or you can arrange pick up. Help show our crew some love and support for all their hard work and dedication!

Yesterday, 3/19, HCCD took several reports of controlled burns. THANK YOU! We did have some that became uncontrolled, and having them already in the system made it more efficient to get help sent out even faster.

On the other hand, we had SEVERAL folks burn without calling in and as a result we sent out almost EVERY FIRE SERVICE we dispatch for. While a few were mutual aid calls, most were not.

Please remember to call in your controlled burns ahead of time, and always make sure you have prepared properly. Simply lighting a match and watching it go is a recipe for disaster.

Please do your due diligence and back burn the boundaries of your fire ground first before conducting the burn and make sure the weather for the day is appropriate- humidity, wind speed and direction.

If you need assistance, your local fire department is a great resource for learning how to conduct a successful burn.

Be safe! We will be here.

We look forward to seeing what neat things the community comes up with!

On Monday, February 9th 2026 Harrison County Central Dispatch received a call from a Cainsville resident regarding a burglary and theft that had taken place prior to the caller’s return to the residence. As Sheriff Place was attempting to apprehend the suspect, the suspect fled and a pursuit ensued. During this pursuit 911 Dispatcher Kayden Spencer kept in constant contact with Sheriff Place via radio and ensured his location was always known. Spencer also contacted various law enforcement agencies for mutual aid and kept in constant communication with them, and when necessary, dispatched EMS to render immediate aid to Sheriff Place. HCCD wishes to recognize Spencer for his excellent work and efforts during an extremely stressful and challenging call. Spencer displayed a level of calm and professionalism necessary for a successful outcome, and we at HCCD are thankful for his, and everyone’s efforts that were involved in the call and subsequent capture of the suspect.
