Although this may appear to be an obligatory image, my intention is to encourage you to THANK YOUR POLL WORKERS today! Each one of them is putting in about 15 hours or more to ensure a secure and efficient election for us. My mom did this for almost 20 years, right up until she couldn’t get through that long of a day in her late 80s. They deserve more than the small stipend they receive, but they’re doing it for all of us because of civic pride. God bless Bethany, Oklahoma, and America, and you!

During my Uncle Joe’s funeral yesterday, the refrain in a hymn provided me with a reminder as I reflected on the past few months. The verse “The lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want” from Psalm 23 gave me peace, knowing that He will provide for my family members who are suffering, and that I needed his guidance. Working in our community over the past 28 years has taught me that we have many good people, despite some negativity toward the place that we live, work and connect, and the people who try their best to make it better. Little by little, we move forward for improvement and look for positivity. Family will always come first for me, whether we’re related or are friends. Bless you and yours, and please remember to exercise your right to vote on Tuesday.

I received a call earlier today and asked if I had some campaign signs I could spare. It seems that someone else’s signs had been placed without permission and without asking, and the property owner said that mine would replace them. I want to be clear that I will not place signs without asking and receiving permission prior to placing any, nor will I remove or damage any signs. If any blame is to be assigned, point it to illegal posting of signs, such as in medians or on private property.

Another week of celebrating people and businesses in our community. During Tuesday night’s NW OKC Chamber Evening of Accolades honoring small businesses and organizations, I presented the inaugural Community Impact Award, and was pleased to announce the winner as Bethany Public Schools Foundation! At Friday night’s Oklahoma Military Heritage Foundation’s inaugural Oklahoma Military Hall of Honor Award Induction Ceremony, WWII veteran 'Choc' Charleston and four other Oklahoma veterans were inducted. ‘Choc’ was honored recently during a Bethany city council meeting, and at 101, he’s still full of life. I was humbled to be among the roomful of veterans and their families, hearing some of their lifetime achievements!
