As we make our final push before the 2025 Shop with a Cop event, we would like to thank those who have donated in 2025. If you would still like to make a donation to this great cause, contact Sheriff Trevor Place or Chief Bryan Holloway to do so.

Again we would like to thank the community for your support. Because of your effort, less fortunate children are able to have a great Christmas!

It looks like we will be getting some snow later this evening. Travel is not recommended if it can be avoided. Deputies will be out to assist anyone that may need it while on the road.

Here are a few things to remember:

- If you see a vehicle off the road and it has caution tape marking it, it has been checked on.
- Fill up your gas tank before traveling just in case you get stranded.
- Wear or take a few extra clothes while traveling.
- Put a flashlight, gloves, a warm hat, and small shovel in your emergency kit.
-Do not drive with a partially thawed windshield, wait for a clear view before traveling.
- If you find yourself off the road in your vehicle and plan to allow it to run while waiting for help, be sure the exhaust is clear.

The best solution is to avoid travel if at all possible when roads are treacherous.

Dial 911 if you have an emergency, crews are expected to be overwhelmed with calls and will get to you as soon as possible.

A winter storm system is expected to bring ice/snow to area starting Saturday evening. Ice/sleet will be possible for areas south of I-70 Saturday night into Sunday morning. Locally, over a third of an inch of ice may accumulate. A full transition to snow is expected between late Sunday morning and early Sunday afternoon. Over a foot of snow is possible for areas north of I-70 and along highway 36.

Strong winds over 30mph on Sunday to blow snow, further reducing visibilities.
