Orchard Little Free Library

Orchard Little Free Library Orchard Little Free Library is a community project in Bethel Park, PA. Community members are invited to borrow books and share them with friends and neighbors.

What is a Little Free Library? In a lot of ways, it is similar to a traditional public library, only much, much smaller. It is a small curated collection of books that are available for the community to borrow. The library operates on the honor system, so there are no due dates or fines. The success of this Little Free Library depends on our community. We will do our best to keep an eye on the lib

rary and make sure that it is well stocked with books that you will be excited to read. However, we also rely on you to return books and to add new ones when you can. How does it work? You are welcome to take as many books as you like, and return them -or not- whenever you are done with them. Have any favorite books you would like to share? Please add them to the library! When you take a book home, please write a name and date inside the back cover. We want to know what books you are most interested in reading, and the community can see which books are the most popular and how far they have traveled. Won’t people steal the books? No. You can’t steal a free book. This Little Free Library belongs to the community and the books are here for everyone to enjoy. We just ask that you please help us keep the library stocked and remember that these books are always a gift and never for sale. A Note bout the Steward

The steward of this Little Free Library is the assistant director and children’s librarian at the Green Tree Public Library, so you will likely find several ex-public library books that have been removed from circulation. This little library is not affiliated with any public library, so please do not place here any books that you have checked out from somewhere else. Want your own Little Free Library? There’s no such thing as too many books! Anyone can start a Little Free Library. All you need is a weather tight box with a door that you can see through and some books. Registration is highly encouraged, but optional. Plans for building your own Little Free Library are available online in a variety of places, or you can send us and email if you would like to buy a pre-built library from us.

It's a sad day for the little library. We found it off the post and heavily damaged this morning. Not sure if it was malicious intent or a very negligent plow driver. There are no footprints or tire tracks, and it is far enough off the road to avoid plows, so we're not sure what happened. 😢

The little library is still open and very full of books!

A quick hello to everyone! After a couple months, the library seems to be doing quite well. Books have been cycling in and out, and the library is very full right now with recent donations! Even though the weather is turning and foot traffic has decreased, the library will be available and full of books to borrow every day of the year.
