What is considered revenue? An amount of money that is brought in. What types of revenues does the city of Bethel Springs bring in? A few examples are property taxes, the rental of the community center, State Shared Revenues to name a few.

Let's look at the State Shared Revenues. Every month the State of Tennessee deposits INTO our account our portion of the state shared revenues. These consist of Interstate Sales, State Beer Tax, Petroleum Special Tax, State Sales Tax, SPORTS BETTING Tax. To receive these taxes, a resident has to use a service that charges a tax. For instance, Sports Betting tax. A resident of Bethel Springs has used an app such as FanDuel and placed a bet on a game. That app then charges a tax and a portion of that tax is sent to Bethel Springs. Bethel Springs is not betting on anything. This tax is not COSTING the city $1,100 each year. This is an income that the city is receiving!

Tuesday, October 15th and Wednesday, October 16th Bethel Springs City Hall will be closed due to training. Due to the office being closed, the late fee will not be added to late bills until Monday, October 21st. During this closure, you can still put your payment in the drop box or pay your bill online at www.govcard.org/bethel.

A few reminders so that the meetings can run smoothly and without delay:
1. Please hold all questions until the end. Let the mayor and alderman address the issues that are on the agenda. At the end of every meeting, there will be an opportunity for questions.
2. This is the most important: IF YOU HAVE A CONCERN THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADDRESS, PLEASE CALL CITY HALL AND BE PUT ON THE AGENDA BEFORE MONDAY. If you are not on the agenda, you will only have 3 minutes to address your concern.

The Bethel Springs water bill has the wrong date for the work session. The correct date for the work session is Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 6pm.

If a road in Bethel Springs is ever closed, it is most likely due an emergency repair. PLEASE do not drive around the barricades! Those barricades are put up for your safety and the safety of our employees. We understand that it may be an inconvenience for you to take a different route, but the barricades are out there for safety reasons.

The reason this is being brought up is because Wednesday our crew was on Buena Vista Road repairing a water line. Everyone knows that Buena Vista is a narrow road to begin with. Not only was our crew out there, so was a marking crew from AT&T and Henderson Utility Department. Our maintenance department put out the barricades so they could fix the leak. Two vehicles drove around the barricades. While no one was hurt, someone could have been.

So, for the safety of our city employees and for your safety, PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE AROUND THE BARRICADES!
