🚑 Training doesn't have to be boring! 👶❤️

Last night, our crew had an incredible time learning alongside our friends from Rochester First Response and Barnard First Response during our Pregnancy & Childbirth Emergencies training.

A huge thank you to Kate Soons and Dr. Dave Nelson from Saint Michael's for another outstanding class. Their knowledge, experience, and engaging teaching style—always mixed with plenty of laughter—make every training memorable and meaningful.

We are incredibly grateful for their dedication to educating EMS providers and helping us prepare for the unique challenges of pregnancy and childbirth emergencies in the field.

We had a fantastic evening, learned a great deal, shared plenty of laughs, and most importantly, we're even better prepared to provide the highest level of care when you need us most.

Thank you to everyone who joined us—we're already looking forward to the next training! 🚑💙

Vermont is under heat advisories this week. High temperatures and humidity can quickly become dangerous — especially for older adults, young children, outdoor workers, and those with medical conditions.

Stay hydrated, take breaks in the shade or AC, and check on neighbors and loved ones.

✔️ Understand how diseases like Lyme disease are spread
✔️ Practice prevention strategies, including proper clothing and repellents

As Executive Assistant for White River Valley Ambulance, Inc., EMS Week gives me an opportunity to reflect on the incredible work our team accomplishes every day.
In rural EMS, no two days are ever the same. One moment, crews are responding to an emergency call. The next, they may be transferring a patient, preparing equipment, restocking supplies, supporting neighboring agencies through mutual aid, working alongside fire and law enforcement partners, training new providers, maintaining our station, or connecting with the community through schools, camps, and outreach programs.
What continues to impress me most is the dedication and resilience of responders. Every day brings new challenges, uncertainties, and opportunities to make a difference. Through it all, our crews show up ready to serve with professionalism, compassion, and a commitment to providing the best possible care.
EMS professionals do far more than respond to emergencies. They invest countless hours in training, education, preparation, and community service to help keep our region safe and healthy.
During EMS Week, I want to thank every responder, those at WRVA and those serving communities everywhere. Your hard work, sacrifice, and dedication do not go unnoticed. As a community member I am grateful for all that you do.
