ATTENTION KUSKOKWIM RIVER FEDERALLY QUALIFIED SUBSISTENCE USERS
The YDNWR Refuge Manager, in consultation with the KRITFC in-season managers, are announcing the first salmon fishing openers of the season for federally qualified subsistence users.
In federal waters of the Kuskokwim River mainstem, from the mouth of the Kuskokwim to Aniak, subsistence SET GILLNET ONLY fishing is announced for:
~Tuesday, June 2, from 7 am to 11 pm (16 hours)
~ Friday, June 5, from 7 am to 11 pm (16 hours)
~Tuesday, June 9, from 7 am to 11 pm (16 hours)
SET gillnets can be up to 6-inch mesh, 45 meshes deep, and 75 feet in length. They must be attached to the bank, oriented perpendicular to the river, and operated within 100 feet of the ordinary high-water mark.
There will also be two 12-hour DRIFT and/or SET net opportunities on:
~ Friday, June 12 from 7 am to 7 pm (12 hours)
~Tuesday, June 16 from 7 am to 7 pm (12 hours)
Gillnets can be up to 6-inch mesh, 45 meshes deep, 50 fathoms (300 feet) below Johnson River and 25 fathoms (150 feet) above Johnson River (for drift + set net lengths combined).
