QUYANA CAKNEQ for those of you who have reported!

Learn About Your Bird. Report Your Band at: reportband.gov

Each year, biologists in Alaska put metal bands on birds to learn about migration and population health. It is not illegal for people to shoot these birds. If you report the band, we learn about when and where birds move. You can keep the band as a souvenir!

Please see the attached flyer for more information.

SPRING SUBSISTENCE MIGRATORY WATERFOWL CLOSURE

A 30-day closure has been established for the 2026 Alaska subsistence spring migratory bird harvest in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region. The spring waterfowl season will be closed during the initiation of migratory bird nesting from June 6th beginning at 12:01 a.m. through midnight of July 6 for all species except scoters. The spring waterfowl season will be closed for scoters from June 11 through July 11, 2026. This emergency closure comes after consultation with the Association of Village Council Presidents Waterfowl Conservation Committee and field biologists from the Service. This closure is established in 50 CRF 92.21 and through the publication of this notice.

A special closure for black brant from the time of egg laying until young birds are fledged, remains in effect through July 21, 2026.

Harvest and egg collecting for emperor geese remains closed in 2026.
We would like to thank the subsistence hunters of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta for their cooperation in helping our migratory bird populations by respecting these closures.
