A Youth Cannabis Education series is being offered by the New Milford Youth Agency this February.

This free, virtual, 4-week education series is designed for teens, young adults, and community members who want clear information about cannabis to support informed decision-making.
This series is educational in nature and focuses on facts, context, and practical understanding - not judgement or discipline.

Series details:
- When: Fridays in February, 4-5pm
- Format: Virtual
- Who should attend: Teens, young adults, and interested community members

- Cannabis and the teen brain

- Updated information on community and environmental influences

The Department of Public Works will begin curbside pickup of leaf bags starting Monday, October 15, 2024. Please check the schedule below to find out when we’ll be in your area! 📅

Bag Leaves Only: Please use paper bags for leaves. No plastic bags or bags with debris other than leaves will be accepted.

No Raking into Streets: To avoid storm drain clogs and flooding, please do not rake leaves into the streets.

Transfer Station: You can also drop off bagged leaves at the Transfer Station with a picture ID. Household garbage will not be accepted.

Placement: Put bags on the curbside the night before pickup. There will be no special pickups on demand, and bags will be collected on the next rotation if missed.

Please note: The schedule is tentative and may be adjusted due to weather or town projects.

A trapped mosquito in Bethel has tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). While no human cases have been reported, we encourage residents to take simple precautions:

- Use mosquito repellent.
- Wear long sleeves and pants at dawn and dusk.
- Remove standing water around your home.

The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Food, Standards and Product Safety Division and the Connecticut Department of Public Health are warning the public about cookies sold at Stew Leonard’s grocery stores in Danbury and Newington that contained undeclared peanuts. Stew Leonard’s has issued a recall for the products.

One death has been reported that may be associated with the mislabeled product. The death was initially reported to the Food and Drug Administration. The person, an individual in their 20s who was a resident of New York, was reported to have consumed the cookies at a social gathering in Connecticut.

The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Food, Standards and Product Safety Division and the Connecticut Department of Public Health are warning the public about cookies sold at Stew Leonard’s grocery stores in Danbury and Newington that contained undeclared peanuts.
