Despite the sad news about the pool, I’d like to remind you that the skatepark, hiking trails, mountain bike trails, play structures, and swings are open for use! I promise they’ll dry off soon… ☔️🌈

The Town of Bethel will not be opening the pool this year, due to continued deterioration of the pool itself. We have a working group started that will be reaching out to residents to gather input about the future of the recreation area. We expect there will be a survey in your tax bill and on our website in the near future and we urge you to complete and submit it.

If you wish to enroll a child in swimming lessons, here is a list of places you should contact as soon as possible:

To help offset the cost of enrolling a child for swimming lessons at another facility, the Town of Bethel will offer a one-time, $25 reimbursement per child enrolled. Only Bethel residents are eligible for reimbursement, and a receipt of each enrollment is required. Bring your receipt(s) to the Town Office and we will process your check within 15 days.

BETHEL COMMUNITY RECIPE BOOK: DEADLINE EXTENDED!

The Bethel Recreation Committee continues to invite you to contribute to a Bethel Community Recipe Book!

The original due date for these recipes was today, but I am extending the deadline to next Sunday (February 8th).

This recipe book will include a variety of recipes submitted by the beautiful people of Bethel, Vermont! It will represent our community's diverse interests, traditions, and culinary skills. If you are interested in being a part of this recipe book, please submit a typed recipe, a photo of the final culinary product, and a photo of yourself to Lindsey Schell at [email protected] by February 8th, 2026. If you are uncomfortable sharing a photo, skip that bit!

Since the Super Bowl is coming up, send me your Super Bowl Sunday recipes! I bet you have some wicked tasty ones that have stuck with you throughout the years and make your guests say WOWIE.

Please keep in mind, these recipes can be SIMPLE.

The recipe books will be sold at the 2026 Bethel Town Meeting! Thank you in advance for your participation; I look forward to helping your special recipes live on within the community :)

This recipe book will include a variety of recipes submitted by the beautiful people of Bethel, Vermont! It will represent our community's diverse interests, traditions, and culinary skills. If you are interested in being a part of this recipe book, please submit a typed recipe, a photo of the final culinary product, and a photo of yourself to Lindsey Schell at [email protected] by January 31st, 2026.

I hope to see recipes all the way from your grandmother's famous chocolate chip cookies to the tastiest homemade tomato sauce that has ever grazed your taste buds. Oh, and don't forget your child's favorite stove-popped popcorn or Fido's homemade dog treats!

This deadline is far off, but please don't hesitate to send your recipe sooner! I'd like to start compiling this book ASAP. These recipe books will be sold at the 2026 Bethel Town Meeting (IF I receive enough recipe submissions).
