Historic Bethel German Colony Bethel, Missouri, just 45 miles west of Hannibal, was the most successful communal colony west of the Mississippi, founded by Dr. Wilhelm Keil in 1844.

There is an electrical outage in Bethel so the Fest Hall will be closed today. No word on when the power will be back on.
