Did you know vascular dementia is caused by conditions that reduce or block blood flow to the brain, depriving brain cells of the oxygen and nutrients they need? It can occur after a stroke or as a result of other changes to the blood vessels in the brain.

Symptoms can vary depending on the areas of the brain affected and may include difficulty with planning and problem-solving, slowed thinking, trouble concentrating, confusion, and changes in memory.

Taking steps to support heart and blood vessel health, such as managing blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and other cardiovascular risk factors, may also help reduce the risk of vascular cognitive impairment.

Understanding the different types of dementia is an important part of building a more informed and dementia-friendly community. ๐Ÿ’œ
