Join Forest Society North at The Rocks for an engaging evening presentation, Parks of the Desert Southwest: A Ranger’s View, offered both in person and via Zoom.

Environmental educator and retired park naturalist Jeff Wallner will share stories and experiences from his years working in some of the West’s most iconic National Parks, including Mesa Verde, Black Canyon, Capitol Reef, and Saguaro National Parks. Along the way, enjoy stunning views and insights into the landscapes, wildlife, and people that make these parklands so special.

Jeff began his career in New Hampshire as SPNHF’s first program coordinator at The Rocks before heading west, where his passion for National Parks became a second career spanning more than 45 years in America’s outdoors.

Don’t miss this opportunity to travel through the Desert Southwest from the perspective of a ranger who lived it firsthand!

As part of their Sophomore Stewardship Day, two groups of students from St. Johnsbury Academy visited The Rocks to lend a helping hand on the trails. Working alongside Dylan, the students removed old, rotten bog bridges along a section of the Beaver Pond Trail that will be replaced with new bridges later this summer.

Thank you to these hardworking students for spending the day giving back and helping care for this special place for future visitors to enjoy!

We were inspired to host a recent Climate Café at The Rocks, led by local elementary school students and joined by students from Plymouth State University and members of the community.

These young leaders facilitated thoughtful, open conversations about climate concerns—sharing ideas, asking questions, and connecting across generations. PSU students and community members added valuable perspectives, creating a meaningful space for dialogue, learning, and mutual inspiration.

It was a powerful reminder that important conversations can start at any age—and that working together across our community is key to shaping a more sustainable future.

We had a wonderful visit from a group of 5th and 6th graders from Heartwood School, who joined us to learn all about maple syrup! 🍁 From exploring the rich history of sugaring to following the journey from tree to market, students got a hands-on look at how this sweet tradition comes to life. It was a great day of learning, curiosity, and, of course, a deeper appreciation for all things maple!
