I’m pleased to share the City of Easton PA Official received $200,000 in state funding through the Strategic Management Planning Program (STMP) to help develop a plan to strengthen its financial capacity.

Strong local governments are the foundation of strong communities. These investments help municipalities responsibly manage their finances, maintain essential services, keep the lights on, and continue growing while building a strong financial future.

Investing in our local governments means investing in the people and communities they serve.

How much did you spend on back-to-school shopping this year? 📚✏️📓

For many Pennsylvania families, the cost of getting kids ready for school adds up quickly. WJAC 6 News recently highlighted my legislation to create a yearly sales tax holiday on school supplies.

A sales tax holiday would be a simple, meaningful way to help working families keep more of their hard-earned money. I was able to get this legislation passed in the Senate, but unfortunately, the House did not act prior to this school year.

Thank you Johnathon O'Halloran for covering this legislation. I’ll keep pushing to get it passed before next school year.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, and we proudly stand with our Ukrainian-American community in recognizing the people of Ukraine for their extraordinary courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to freedom, sovereignty, and democracy.

Today is National Senior Citizens Day! 🎉

Today, we celebrate our older adults and recognize the countless ways they strengthen our communities. I’m grateful for every opportunity to meet with the seniors who helped build the neighborhoods, businesses, and traditions we enjoy today. Their experiences, wisdom, and contributions continue to guide us.

I remain committed to supporting, protecting, and advocating for our senior citizens — whether it’s through consumer protection, access to healthcare, assistance navigating state services, or other resources that help them live with dignity and independence.

Thank you, Governor Josh Shapiro, for issuing an Executive Order to strengthen protections surrounding data center development. As Democratic Chair of the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee, protecting ratepayers from unfair costs and ensuring our utilities remain reliable and affordable are central to my work.

Data centers must pay the costs they create. Utilities must not shift those costs onto existing customers. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission must have the tools necessary to protect grid reliability, and local communities must have a meaningful voice before development moves forward.

I appreciate the Governor’s leadership in putting these important protections front and center as Pennsylvania continues to grow and attract new investment.

This summer, I was proud to welcome four outstanding interns to my offices — Holly Monoski, Luke McClure, Fatmata Bah, and Vincent Caminneci. Each brought a unique background, a strong work ethic, and a genuine commitment to public service. My team was lucky to have them.

In my Capitol Office, Holly supported the work of my Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee Executive Director and my Legislative Director, assisting with research, stakeholder outreach, and day‑to‑day legislative responsibilities.

In my Bethlehem District Office, Luke, Fatmata, and Vincent helped constituents across the Lehigh Valley, gaining firsthand experience in how public service happens not only on the Senate floor but in the daily work of solving problems. They also developed their own legislative proposals and presented them to my office — and they did an excellent job.

Please join me in wishing Holly, Luke, Fatmata, and Vincent the very best as they’ve concluded their service with our office and begin their next chapters.

🚧 The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will conduct daytime lane-closure projects across Northampton County from August 10–14, 2026. Work is scheduled for 8 a.m.–3 p.m. daily and will impact several areas, including Williams Township, Palmer Township, Lower Nazareth Township, Pen Argyl, Upper Mount Bethel Township and Lower Mount Bethel Township.

Motorists should use caution, expect delays, and allow extra travel time in these work zones. Weather conditions may impact the schedule.

🚧 Please slow down, stay alert, and give road crews plenty of room.

Routes 191 and 512 are among the major throughways impacted by the scheduled maintenance work.

I am proud to share that nine redevelopment projects in Northampton County were awarded $17,750,000 in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) funding last week.

This is another example of the Commonwealth recognizing that partnering on these important regional economic and community development projects is critical to ensuring completion, enhancing job creation and improving quality of life throughout the Lehigh Valley.

Some project investments include:

▪️ $5,000,000 to the Greater Community Empowerment Center
▪️ $5,000,000 to the Steel General Office Complex
▪️ $2,000,000 to the Easton-Berwick Street Renovation, ProJeCt of Easton
▪️ $1,750,000 to the Bethlehem Emergency Shelter, City of Bethlehem PA Official
▪️ $1,500,000 to the Palmer Township Police Station, Palmer Township Police Dept.
