Northampton County is officially out of a drought watch and back to "normal" conditions.

Good news! Recent rainfall has brought much‑needed relief to parts of south-central and southeastern Pennsylvania.

Counties back to normal conditions:

Bedford, Bucks, Chester, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and Northampton.

Counties that improved from Warning to Watch:
Berks and Lehigh.

While our streams and rivers have bounced back nicely, groundwater is taking a bit longer to recover. That slower recharge is why some counties are still under Drought Watch.

Because drought conditions can vary from neighborhood to neighborhood, we’re still asking residents to use water wisely and check with your local water supplier for any specific guidance where you live.

While water rates have gone up approximately 62% nationally since 2015, the Lower Saucon Authority rates have gone up by only 13.3%. We work hard to manage our budget by proactively replacing old water mains (to limit expensive main breaks) and by limiting the amount of lost (non-revenue) water in our system. Saving money is ultimately reflected in steady rates for our customers.

Lower Saucon Authority employees will be reading meters next week as part of our quarterly billing cycle. While many of our meters can be read by the "drive by" method where our employees can stay in their trucks, some of our older meters must be read close up. Often times this may mean walking across the lawn of a customer to get close enough for our hand-held device to electronically read the meter.

Lower Saucon Authority employees will always carry an ID badge on them and/or be wearing clothing with the Lower Saucon Authority logo on it. If you see someone on your property claiming to be an LSA employee, ask to see their badge or check to make sure that they have the "Lower Saucon Authority" logo on their shirt or jacket. If they do not comply, please call our office at 610-317-3212 and we will deal with them.

Over the next few months, LSA employees will again be out and might possibly end up on our customers' property. Our employees will be out locating curb stops and service lines - the items that connect our water mains to our customers' homes. WE will be digitally mapping these items so that if problems arise in the future, we will know exactly where to look on each property.

As an FYI, the Authority is responsible for maintaining everything up to the curb stop, while the homeowner is responsible for the service line and everything that leads back to the home. If we can identify where the service line is, that will save our customers the time, effort and cost of locating the service line if problems do arise. The last thing we want to see is our customers digging up their yards to try and locate a service line.

Friday, September 4 7:30am - 1pm
Monday, September 7 CLOSED

We will resume our normal summer business hours starting at 7:30am on Tuesday, September 8.

Northampton County Remains In Drought Watch

DEP Drought Conditions Update: 3 Counties Return To Normal Status; 8 Counties Remain In Drought Warning

On August 4, the Department of Environmental Protection announced a Drought Update on social media saying three counties returned to Normal Status and eight counties remain in Drought Warning, based on a Commonwealth Drought Task Force meeting on July 29.

Eight counties are currently in Drought Warning: Berks, Chester, Cumberland, Franklin, Fulton, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh

Eight counties are in Drought Watch: Adams, Bedford, Bucks, Dauphin, Delaware, Northampton, Perry, York.

Three counties returned to Normal Status: Blair, Montgomery, Philadelphia.

All other counties are in Normal Status.
