By honoring individuals from the financial and legal sectors in one event, the program highlights the shared impact these professions have on business, governance, and community development across the area. We're proud of those in the VYH community who were recognized today!

We are just one week away from Setting the Stage with Journey! As we look ahead to the event, we also look back to our most recent Setting the Stage, when we honored Chris Martin, Thomas Ripsam, and Martin Guitar. This honoree video told their story and highlighted their philanthropic contributions to the Lehigh Valley, showcasing years of community impact. Produced in partnership with First Generation, this video was also a winner of the Platinum Award from the Hermes Creative Awards!

This time, we’ll be honoring Christopher & Jennifer Franklin and Essential Utilities, Inc. We’re so excited and privileged to have this opportunity, and can’t wait to share the night with our incredible community!

Last Thursday, we were visited by The Kindness Project: A Foster Care Resource, who brought their mobile boutique, The Kindness Express, for the youth we serve! They brought donations of clothes, new shoes, jackets, duffel bags, hygiene products, gift cards, and so much more, and set them up in a shopping experience for the youth to browse and explore.

We want to thank The Kindness Project not just for their incredible generosity but also for presenting the donations in such a fun, memorable way for the young people to enjoy. It is thoughtfulness like this that reminds the youth that they truly are part of a nurturing community!

Earlier this week, we were joined by Greg Barchuk, Chief Homeless Officer for Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, at our Philadelphia office and The Drop. Greg helps lead the Interagency Council on Homelessness in PA.

VYH Leadership and Youth Ambassadors provided the history of VYH, our role in working with youth experiencing homelessness and potential solutions. Greg had the quote of the day when he said, "you don't really understand homelessness until you understand youth homelessness."

Thank you for taking the time to visit, Greg, and for giving us the opportunity to connect about our mission!

Throwback Thursday to the week of the Jefferson Lehigh Valley Classic presented by Sodexo, when The First Tee Lehigh Valley & Berks helped transform our office into a mini golf course and professional golfer Bo Van Pelt swung by to meet some of the youth we serve!

We still reflect on this incredible night and how fortunate we are to have such amazing community partners that helped make it possible, including: Cassidy Gavaghan and HNS Sports Group for coordinating with the PGA Champions Tour and reaching out to Bo; First Tee – Lehigh Valley and Berks for setting up the mini golf experience that brought so many smiles to the youths’ faces; food and beverage sponsors Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, GIO Italian Grill, Chick-fil-A and Niagara Bottling, who generously donated food and drink for the event; and, of course, Bo Van Pelt for taking time out of his busy schedule to swing by and give our young people a once in a lifetime experience.

Maura E. Topper, Chair, Valley Youth House Board of Directors, and President and CEO, CrossAmerica Partners, LP has shared that Thomas R. Harrington has announced his retirement as Valley Youth House’s President and Executive Director as of May 31, 2027.

“It has been an honor to help guide this agency over the past eleven years, and I am deeply proud of the impact we’ve had in delivering our services to youth and families throughout Northeast, Southeast and Central Pennsylvania” says Harrington.

Our next Setting the Stage has been announced! 📢

On March 2, 2027, we’ll be hosting our next Setting the Stage at the Renaissance Hotel & PPL Center, where guests will be treated to a star-studded concert featuring Def Leppard, Goo Goo Dolls, and The Struts!

We’ll have the privilege of honoring Tony and Adrienne DaRe and BSI Corporate Benefits at this event. All proceeds will support life changing services and programs provided by Valley Youth House.
