Small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Recently, Gabe, Dan, and Katrina set out on a mission to demonstrate that to our neighbors in the Bethlehem area.
With support from their Direct Support Professionals, they shopped for supplies, assembled snack bags, and delivered them to Blessing Boxes throughout the Lehigh Valley. These community boxes provide free food to anyone experiencing hunger, no questions asked.
Their day was filled with generosity, teamwork, and a shared goal: helping to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.
We're so proud of Gabe, Dan, and Katrina for turning compassion into action and making a positive impact on the lives of others. They truly have the biggest hearts!

Congratulations to our President & CEO, Lisa Walkiewicz, on being named to the Lehigh Valley Business LVB 300.
This recognition reflects what so many of us have experienced firsthand throughout Lisa's nearly 20 years at Via: leadership grounded in a deep belief in people and their potential.

Lisa's impact comes from her unique ability to see both the big picture and the individual behind it. She understands our organization from the inside out, values the contributions of every individual role, and knows that lasting success starts with creating an environment where people feel supported, empowered, and inspired to grow.

Through her vision, commitment, and focus on building a strong culture, Lisa has helped shape Via into an organization where employees feel valued, individuals with disabilities find opportunities to thrive, and mission-driven work translates into meaningful community impact.

The results speak for themselves. Under Lisa's leadership, Via has been recognized as a Top Workplace for four consecutive years, and employee turnover has been reduced from more than 57% to less than 21%. Those accomplishments reflect her dedication to listening, investing in people, building trust, and empowering others to lead.

What sets Lisa apart is not only what she has accomplished, but how she has accomplished it: by fostering innovation, developing strong teams, and never losing sight of the people at the heart of our mission.

At Via, we believe that recognizing outstanding employees is an important part of our culture. Our Employee of the Quarter program celebrates team members who go above and beyond to embody our mission and values while making a meaningful impact in the lives of those we support.

This quarter, we are proud to recognize Kate G., ATF Instructor, as Via's Employee of the Quarter.

Kate was nominated by her supervisor, who highlighted her unwavering commitment to helping participants reach their goals and her ability to bring positivity, creativity, and encouragement to every day. One participant working closely with Kate experienced an improved outlook and greater confidence through Kate's thoughtful support, including personalized positive affirmation cards, cooking activities, and encouragement to participate in new social experiences.

Her creativity has also been recognized by participants. Life Skills participant Luke O. shared:

"Katelyn is able to come up with good ideas for us to do when I'm with her. I like the ideas that Katelyn comes up with, like when we talked about making pancakes."

Kate's work reflects the values that guide us at Via, supporting growth, fostering meaningful connections, and embracing innovative ideas that help individuals achieve their fullest potential.

Samantha exemplifies the values of leadership, compassion, and service. During a recent period of transition, she stepped into additional supervisory responsibilities while continuing to support her own department, ensuring staff and participants received the guidance and support they needed.
Known for her positive attitude, collaborative approach, and genuine commitment to helping others, Samantha consistently goes above and beyond to support her colleagues and the individuals we serve. We're proud to recognize Muhlenberg College for being an outstanding employment partner to Via!

Thanks to their welcoming and inclusive environment, Mason has gained hands-on experience in a variety of meaningful roles, including supporting the training/workout facilities, assisting in the library with sorting and returning books, and even working as an usher for the theatre department. Along the way, he has learned a wealth of new skills and become a valued member of the campus team.

Mason loves his work at Muhlenberg, and we're grateful for the opportunity they've provided. The Muhlenberg team presented Mason with a gift to thank him for his work.

Special thanks to Jarred Ford, Via Employment Specialist and Muhlenberg alumnus, for helping create this successful partnership.

This month, we're proud to spotlight Jerry Somers, Immediate Past Chair of Via of the Lehigh Valley's Board of Directors and a dedicated member of the Via Foundation Board. For over 17 years, Jerry has been a steadfast advocate for Via's mission, providing thoughtful leadership and strategic guidance that have helped strengthen our organization and expand our impact throughout the community.
A graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Jerry later earned his Master of Business Administration from Moravian College. Throughout his career, he held senior-level financial leadership positions with both Fortune 100 and international companies, bringing a wealth of expertise and insight to his board service. Now retired, Jerry and his wife, Lisa, reside in Bethlehem, where he continues to support organizations that make a difference in the lives of others. We are grateful for Jerry's commitment, leadership, and ongoing dedication to Via.

Some routines are about more than just a favorite snack, they're about connection.
Richard and his Direct Support Professional, Sarah, look forward to their weekly trips to Wawa. The team at their local store knows them by name, greets them with warm smiles, and always makes them feel welcome.
Richard is a big fan of Wawa's soft pretzels and a soda (his go-to combo!), though every now and then he'll switch things up and grab a hoagie instead. And if there was ever any doubt about his loyalty, his shirt says it all: "I'd Rather Be at Wawa!" 😄
For Richard, these visits are more than a stop at a convenience store, they're a chance to be part of a community that recognizes and values him.

This month, we're proud to recognize Allyson Z., Employment Specialist, who was nominated by her manager, Alivia S., for exemplifying the Via Value of Advocacy.
Allyson recently supported an individual in achieving a significant milestone: obtaining their first job. In addition to helping them secure employment, she guided them through the OVR process and paperwork, ensuring they understood each step and had the support needed to move forward with confidence.
In her nomination, Alivia shared that Allyson "went above and beyond by providing weekend support to ensure a smooth and successful transition." She also praised Allyson for helping the individual successfully navigate the OVR phases for the first time.
Through her dedication, compassion, and willingness to go the extra mile, Allyson ensured the individual had a strong advocate in their corner and the resources needed to succeed. Her efforts reflect what Advocacy looks like in action - helping people navigate challenges, amplifying their voices, and supporting them in reaching their goals.
Thank you, Allyson, for your commitment to the people we support and for living Via's values every day. 💙
