* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
Northern Lee County in central South Carolina...
Southwestern Chesterfield County in central South Carolina...
Eastern Kershaw County in central South Carolina...

* Until 715 PM EDT.

* At 617 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles southwest
of Carolina Sandhills Wildlife Refuge, or 16 miles northwest of
Hartsville, moving south at 15 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. This storm is
rotating and may produce a funnel cloud.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include...
Camden, Bishopville, Lee State Park, Mt Pisgah, Cassatt, Goodale
State Park, Mcbee, Bethune, Lucknow, North Central High School,
North Towne Square Shopping Center, Antioch, Midway Elementary
School, Woodward Airfield and Ashland.

This includes Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 96
and 126.

For your protection seek shelter inside a sturdy building and stay
away from windows.

Excessive cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. If

Congratulations to our new Fire Chief, Chief William Glover!

The Kershaw County Fire Service is excited to announce William Glover as Kershaw County Fire Service’s new Fire Chief.
Chief Glover comes to Kershaw County from the City of Sumter Fire Department with 12.5 years of service and currently is the Captain of training.
Chief Glover has also volunteered with Kershaw County for 15 years at Station 15 (Charlotte-Thompson), starting as an explorer and working through the ranks.
Chief Glover brings many years of fire service experience and continued knowledge to our department.

The Bethune Fire Department (KCFS Station 20) has recently received two donations.
Cal-Maine Foods, Inc.. in Bethune donated the funding for us to purchase 8, 50 foot sections of NAFH fire hose and Suominen in Bethune for their donation of a QRAE 4 gas meter.
We would like to shout a big thank you to these two companies for helping improve our fire department.
