The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) will conduct work in the Platte River and Loon Lake (Benzie County) on August 11 – 20, 2026 to estimate the abundance of sea lampreys. The information gathered will be used to determine the need for control measures.

These two trailers recently clipped (Adipose fin marked) and coded wire tagged (CWT) over 1,500,000 Coho Salmon, with a little help from our United States Fish and Wildlife Service friends (they operate the AutoFish trailers). These coho will be fed and grow until next spring when they will be released as yearlings. This is year 2/5 for the clipping and tagging project and we might even start seeing jacks returning this fall from year 1/5 (stocked spring 2026).
