Prepare Before an Earthquake Hits.

The best time to prepare for any disaster is before it happens.

Practice Drop, Cover, and Hold On with your family.

- Secure heavy items in your home like bookcases, refrigerators, televisions, and objects that hang on walls.
- Store heavy and breakable objects on low shelves.
- Create a family emergency communications plan that has an out-of-state contact.
- Plan where to meet if you get separated.
- Make a supply kit that includes enough food and water for at least 7 days, a flashlight, a fire extinguisher, and a whistle.
- Consider obtaining an earthquake insurance policy. A standard homeowner’s insurance policy does not cover earthquake damage.
- Consider making improvements to your building to fix structural issues that could cause your building to collapse during an earthquake.

Make a Plan🎒

Remember, during a disaster what’s good for you is good for your pet, so get them ready today. If you leave your pets behind, they may be lost, injured, or worse. Never leave a pet chained outdoors.

The information contained within does not substitute any medical treatment in any way or form. The JUST IN CASE BH manual should be used for self-assistance during an emergency where emergency services are not immediately available due to the nature of the emergency or disaster.

Curios about learning CPR?

The agenda covers CPR, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), and choking. The e-card certification is valid for two years. At the end of 22 months, you will receive an automatic reminder to renew your CPR certification. All CPR classes are taught in accordance with the guidelines set forth from the American Heart Association. Classes are held for the community, police, fire, school, and anyone who wishes or needs CPR certification.

Each CPR class is geared toward the career you are established in. Basic Life Support is for medical professionals such as doctors, dentists, nurses, and therapists. Heartsaver CPR is for the general public who need required CPR training or have an interest to learn.

Classes are offered Monday-Friday. For more information, please call (310) 281-2753.

City of West Hollywood,
For your information only.

🚧 Update at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026: LADWP crews continue working around the clock to repair the water main on Sunset Blvd. A new 25-foot pipe section has been installed, and crews are now working on further excavation to locate and seal any leaks and then final testing. Work is continuing as quickly and safely as possible. LADWP reports the neighborhood continues to receive safe water. Some upper-floor residents may experience reduced water pressure and customers are encouraged to conserve water while repairs continue. Parking enforcement changes are extended through Weds., July 22 at 7 a.m. and there is a new FAQ at weho.org/watermainbreak.
