Beverly Hills High School football is back! 🏈

Hear from BHUSD Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss as we get ready for our first home game of the season!

The entire Beverly Hills community is invited to come out this Friday and cheer on our Normans. From our youngest BHUSD students to our high schoolers, families, staff, alumni, and neighbors, this is a night for all of Beverly Hills.

Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. All BHUSD students receive free pizza and ice cream, the first 50 BHHS students receive a free spirit pack, and there will be giveaways and concessions throughout the night.

Beverly Hills Reads returned to Beverly Hills High School on Sunday, bringing readers of all generations into the Salter Family Theatre for a conversation with author Patmeena Sabit.
Led by former BHHS teacher Julie Goler, the discussion explored Sabit’s debut novel, Good People.
With the support of the Beverly Hills Education Foundation, City of Beverly Hills Health and Human Relations Commission, and Beverly Hills Unified School District, Beverly Hills Reads gives our entire community an opportunity to read together, exchange perspectives, and connect through meaningful conversation.
The experience continued Monday with a separate event for Beverly Hills High School students, giving them the opportunity to engage directly with Sabit and take their learning beyond the pages of the novel.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Beverly Hills Reads possible and to every community member who was part of the conversation.

One of the things that makes Beverly Hills special is how our community shows up for its students.
During the second week of school, members of the Beverly Hills Police Department’s Community Relations Unit, School Resource Officers, and members of Patrol visited Beverly Vista Middle School, El Rodeo Elementary School, Horace Mann Elementary School, and Beverly Hills Preschool for Popsicles with the Police, spending time with students and building positive connections across our campuses.
BHUSD is incredibly grateful for our partnership with Beverly Hills Police Department and for the many ways our officers support our schools throughout the year.

What a way to welcome our Bulldogs back to Beverly Vista Middle School!
With the generous support of Michael J. Libow, the BVMS Welcome Back Carnival brought students, staff, and community partners together for an incredible evening filled with rides, food, laughter, and memories to start the new school year.
Thank you to the BVMS PTA, whose members organized the carnival and put so much care into creating an experience our students will never forget.
The Beverly Hills Fire Department was there serving food, and even Beverly Hills’ three community pillars got in on the fun! Lt. Billy Fair from the Beverly Hills Police Department, Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss from the Beverly Hills Unified School District, and Firefighter Jimmy Weinstein from the Beverly Hills Fire Department all took a trip down the slide together.
We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this special night possible and gave our BVMS students such a memorable welcome back to school.

Some educators leave a mark that lasts far beyond the classroom. After decades of caring for Beverly Hills’ youngest learners, beloved Beverly Hills Preschool teacher Pam Trank has retired.
Since Beverly Hills Preschool was established in 1974, generations of children have taken their first steps in education through a program built around caring teachers, meaningful relationships, and a deep connection to the Beverly Hills community. Pam has been an important part of that history, helping shape the experiences and memories of countless children and families over the years.
In 2026, Beverly Hills Preschool began an exciting new chapter as the City of Beverly Hills and the Beverly Hills Unified School District started the transition of the program to BHUSD through a new Joint Powers Agreement, creating a seamless educational pathway from preschool through high school graduation.
While Pam may be retiring from her longtime role, we are so grateful that she will continue to be part of the Beverly Hills Preschool family as a volunteer once the transition to BHUSD is fully complete.
As we honor the history of this beloved program and look toward its future, we are especially grateful for educators like Pam who helped make Beverly Hills Preschool what it is today.
Thank you, Teacher Pam, for the years of memories, love, and dedication you have given to the children of Beverly Hills. Your impact will be felt for generations to come.

A new era of excellence is underway at BHUSD.
Districtwide achievement increased by 4% in English Language Arts, 5% in mathematics, and 9% in science, while applications to four-year colleges and universities rose by 37%.
These results reflect the Board of Education's strategic investments in curriculum, instruction, tutoring, college counseling, and student support, brought to life by the extraordinary work of our students, educators, staff, and families.
BHUSD is scoring higher, achieving more, and reaching further than ever before.

Today, the BHHS Class of 2026 walked across the stage and into a new chapter.

Normans, know that an entire community stands behind you. The City of Beverly Hills and the Beverly Hills Unified School District are united in celebrating the Class of 2026 and the impact you have made on our schools and community.

In recognition of this milestone, Beverly Hills City Hall will remain illuminated in orange through Sunday 5/31.

Wherever your journey takes you next, carry with you the friendships, memories, and experiences that helped shape who you are today.

The City of Beverly Hills (City) has approved a new Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) with the Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD) pending ratification by the Board of Education on May 26. The City and BHUSD have used the structure of joint power agreements dating back to 1977 for the purpose of outlining shared use of facilities, recreational programming, and technology support.

Under the new agreement, BHUSD will assume responsibility for several programs previously administered by the City, effective August 1, 2026, including all afternoon programming at BHUSD elementary schools and all City-run camps at District facilities. In addition, responsibility for the State-Licensed Preschool Program, currently administered by the City, will transition to BHUSD in Fall 2026.

The JPA includes nearly $39 million in City financial contributions to BHUSD over the three-year term of the agreement, including $13,750,000 for fiscal year 2026–27, $13,000,000 for fiscal year 2027–28, and $12,250,000 for fiscal year 2028–29.

The JPA includes a Memorandum of Understanding related to digital monitoring and broadcasting technology outlining the District’s responsibility regarding Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR), Unarmed Aircraft Systems Operations (Drone), and other security equipment. The agreement also memorializes the Beverly Hills Police Department’s continuous support to BHUSD through School Resource Officers and other technical support.
