✨Today our 7th graders traded the classroom for the cockpit and dove into what it really takes to drop out of space and hit the ocean in one piece. 🚀🌊 We talked re‑entry and splashdown with NASA’s Orion capsule for the Artemis II mission.

To bring it closer to home, we’re kicking off a hands‑on project: designing our own parachutes and capsules to safely land a very important crew member (an egg!) in water. 🥚✨

💥We’ll see whose design keeps their astronaut in one piece on splashdown. 🧑‍🚀👩‍🚀⭐️

From rocks to moon stones🌕✨

Our Red Bird Civil Air Patrol cadets spent the afternoon turning stones into space science. They picked their own moon rocks, loaded up the rock tumbler, and got a crash course in how Artemis will use real lunar resources on future missions. 🌎

Same hills, same kids, brand new universe opening up right in our little CAP classroom.🚀

✨ Our 7th grade Aerospace crew went “from backyard rocks to lunar resources” today 🌕🪨

They picked their own “moon stones”🪨from right here on earth and will be loading them into a rock tumbler this week! We made the comparison to how the Moon has been “tumbling” its surface with micrometeorites and space weathering for billions of years. 🌙

We also dug into✨why✨NASA is headed back with Artemis: water and ice for rocket fuel, oxygen trapped in the rocks, and that sharp lunar regolith that might one day be 3D‑printed into “moon bricks” for future explorers’ homes on the Moon 🧱🚀

Today our cadets got a front row seat to history with the Artemis II launch countdown. 🚀

Lieutenant Smith brought MREs so they could eat like real astronauts while we watched NASA’s live coverage, talking about what it would be like to strap into that rocket ourselves.

We wrapped up class by heading outside with Major Adams and launching our own baking soda and citric acid rockets, because if you’re going to dream about space, you might as well send something flying. 🌙✨
