The Jacob Stalnaker Cabin

The Jacob Stalnaker Cabin In 1996, the more than 200 year old cabin built by Jacob Stalnaker, Jr., was moved into the Historical District of Beverly, West Virginia for all to enjoy!

In 1772, Samuel Stalnaker and his son, Jacob Stalnaker, Jr., braved the harsh and ravenous terrain of what is now the West Virginia wilderness to the Tygart Valley where they became some of the first permanent settlers to the region. In 1996, Ed Stalnaker, the President of the Stalnaker Family Association, had this antiquated structure moved from it's original location across from the Bruce Hardwa

re Plant into the heart of the Historical District of Beverly, West Virginia. The Stalnaker Family unified to see the completion of the Jacob Stalnaker Cabin in 2006. The Cabin of their ancestor stands as tribute to a by-gone era, and as a testament to the trials and tribulations not just belonging to the Stalnaker ancestors, but rather, what all of our ancestors endured to bring us to this perilous new territory we now call “Home”. Today it is the only early log cabin in Randolph county, West Virginia open to public tours.
