It takes a village:

Yesterday our EMS responded to an injured hiker in the McCormick Wilderness. Knowing we had a lengthy extrication in a remote area we immediately called for additional resources. Thanks to the help of our partners at the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office (Special Operations/SAR) and Michigan DNR we were able to safely get the patient out of the woods without any injuries to rescuers.

Thanks to grant money from The Superior Health Foundation and donations from The Huron Mountain Club, Powell Township EMS is excited to announce they have taken delivery of their new Zoll X-Series Advanced cardiac monitor/defibrillator which will greatly elevate the quality of care our township residents receive!

We cannot thank our local supporters and donors enough for helping us move forward with this purchase - an investment in us is an investment in your community.

We will continue to pursue other grant/donation sources to cover the remaining cost of the monitor over the next two years.

We’ve already responded to our first chimney fire this fall and were fortunately able to extinguish it quickly.

Remember that small, smoldering fires, and unseasoned wood build excess creosote greatly increasing your likelihood of a chimney fire.

We have chimney brushes available for free rental to Township residents.

Contact one of your local firefighters to get the brush and a liability waiver or schedule a chimney cleaning with a local company.
