When you choose to defend, excuse, or stand beside a child molester or ra**st, ask yourself what your loyalty is costing the people who have been harmed. Loving someone does not require you to excuse their behavior, silence survivors, or dismiss the devastation of abuse. Your loyalty should never become a shield for someone else’s cruelty. True character is revealed not by how fiercely you protect the person you love, but by whether you have the courage to stand for truth, accountability, and the protection of the vulnerable—even when doing so is uncomfortable.

An apology should carry the same weight as the disrespect that preceded it. If you were loud in your criticism, be just as intentional in acknowledging the harm you caused. If you humiliated someone publicly, have the courage to take responsibility publicly. If your words damaged someone's confidence, trust, or sense of worth, understand that saying “I'm sorry” is only the beginning of making things right. A genuine apology is not about protecting your image, minimizing your behavior, or expecting immediate forgiveness. It is about taking full responsibility without excuses, demonstrating empathy for the pain you caused, and making a conscious commitment to change. You cannot demand the grace of forgiveness while refusing the responsibility of accountability. The person you hurt should not have to fight harder to get you to acknowledge the damage than you fought to deny it. Ultimately, an apology is not measured by how beautifully you say the words, but by how courageously you own your behavior and how consistently your actions prove that you mean them.

AMBIVALENT RELATIONSHIPS MAY BE SOME OF THE MOST TOXIC RELATIONSHIPS OF ALL.

Not because there is never love.

But because there is just enough love to keep you from leaving.

One day you’re wanted.
The next day you’re rejected.
One moment there is intimacy.
The next, emotional distance.
An apology gives you hope.
Another betrayal destroys it.

And you begin living in the space between what the relationship is and what you desperately hope it will become.

That uncertainty can become psychologically addictive.

You aren’t simply attached to the person.

You can become attached to the possibility of finally getting the love, safety, consistency, and acceptance you keep waiting for.
