With the longer days and spring like weather we are experiencing, we figured it was only a matter of time until the die-hard carp hunters would be stopping by the main office to drop off some carp to be disposed of. Well, that is exactly what happened and so we have put our carp bin out earlier than ever before for all the enthusiasts that are itching to get out there. We are looking forward to another productive fishing season and can’t wait to see all of you out there.

This year, on the days of September 16th & 17th the District was lucky enough to host another Kool Kids event. For those that don’t know, the purpose of this event is to educate our local fourth graders on matters relating to the lake. This event consists of ten booths, each of which focuses on a different educational opportunity. The kids leave this event with a better understanding of Big Bear Lake, a full belly, a bag of goodies, and most importantly a smile on their face.

The District would like to thank North Shore Elementary, Baldwin Lane Elementary, and Fallsvale Elementary for this amazing experience. We would also like to thank the chaperones and students for making it another memorable Kool Kids event.

We hope you all had as much fun as we did and we look forward to another successful event next year.

Someone’s always gotta try to find a loophole…our carp hunters and this tournament are no different. However, we take many hours trying to get into the heads of these carp hunters (yes, it is scary in there) but we need to see what magic they might think of. Our rules for Countin’ Carp remain the same, counting times are daily between 10AM – 6PM, no counting 2PM-2:30PM, NO EXCEPTIONS. If you shoot/hook carp after 6PM we will gladly dispose of your fish – THANK YOU!!!, but they will not be counted toward your tournament numbers. Tournaments like this are possible because of sportsmen like you doing what’s right when no one is watching! Or… sorry, DQ’ed.

Just a reminder to all fisherman of Big Bear Lake. No live bait is allowed except for worms. For example, live minnows are not allowed. Although Googles Artificial Intelligence can be helpful it is not always accurate. Additionally, social media is usually filled with incorrect information. If you have any questions regarding recreating or fishing on Big Bear Lake, please give us a call and we will be happy to help.
