Big Cabin Fire Department is in need of a new pump for our tanker. As a volunteer fire department, we rely heavily on grants and donations to provide the equipment needed to serve and protect our community.

We are incredibly grateful for every donation, share, and show of support we receive. We currently have 1,263 followers on this page. 🚒🔥 **Today's Emergency Was... Egg-straordinary!** 🐔

This morning, crews responded to a reported vehicle fire involving a truck transporting chickens. While firefighters quickly got the blaze under control, the chickens had other plans.

As the smoke cleared, dozens of feathered passengers decided it was time for an unscheduled free-range adventure. What followed can best be described as a combination of firefighting, rodeo, and a very confusing game of tag.

Our crews successfully extinguished the fire and, after an impressive amount of cardio, helped round up the runaway flock. Fortunately, no human injuries were reported, and most of our firefighters now have "Professional Chicken Chaser" added to their résumés.

A big thank you to Carselowey Community Volunteer Fire Dept. For the assistance and everyone who slowed down and gave responders room to work.

Remember: If you see firefighters sprinting across a highway after chickens, rest assured—we're probably having a very strange day.

To the resident who called and asked if we could "just spray a little water on the sun because it's hot outside"...

We checked. It's approximately 93 million miles away, and our hose bed is a little short. 😅

Until we get funding for the world's longest attack line, remember to:

This Memorial Day weekend, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave everything for our country and our freedom. Their sacrifice is the reason we are able to gather with family, serve our communities, and enjoy the lives we often take for granted.

As firefighters, we understand the meaning of service, sacrifice, and standing beside one another when it matters most. This weekend, we remember those who answered a greater call and never made it home.

While many spend this weekend celebrating, we ask everyone to also take a moment to reflect, remember, and give thanks to our fallen heroes and the families who carry their memory every single day.

From all of us at Big Cabin Fire department, thank you to those who served and sacrificed for this nation. We will never forget.
