It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that West Hardin Fire and Rescue extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and members of the Elizabethtown Fire Department on the passing of Ryan Druen, Unit 238.

The fire service is more than a profession or volunteer commitment—it is a family. When one of our own is lost, that loss is felt far beyond the walls of a single station. It echoes throughout every department, every apparatus bay, and every firefighter who has answered the call to serve others.

Ryan dedicated a portion of his life to protecting his community and standing ready to help those in need. While words cannot ease the pain of this loss, we hope his family and fellow firefighters find comfort in knowing that his service, commitment, and impact on those around him will be remembered.

Today, we stand with Ryan's firefighting family at the Elizabethtown Fire Department as they mourn the loss of a friend, coworker, and fellow firefighter. We ask our community to keep Ryan's loved ones, his fire department family, and all those affected by this loss in their thoughts and prayers in the days ahead.

Though his final alarm has sounded, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him, served beside him, and loved him.

Rest easy, brother. We have the watch from here.

HAPPY EMS WEEK!

When the tones drop and chaos begins, they answer.

No matter the hour. No matter the weather. No matter the danger.

EMS professionals run toward the worst moments of someone’s life with courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to save lives. From MVA's on highways and critical medical calls to life flights and long nights without rest... They stand ready when our community needs them most.

This week, West Hardin Fire & Rescue proudly honors the men and women of EMS who sacrifice time with their families, miss holidays, lose sleep, and still show up every single day with servant hearts and relentless dedication.

You are the calm in the storm. You are the voice of reassurance in fear. You are the reason countless people get a second chance.

Thank you for every life saved. Thank you for every hand held. Thank you for answering the call when others cannot.

From the ground to the sky! We are proud to stand beside you. 🚑🚒🚁

Happy EMS Week from all of us at West Hardin Fire & Rescue!
