Greetings, Big Lake! Below is a summary of actions taken by the City Council at its July 15, 2026, meeting:
✅ Approved the List of Claims and minutes from recent Council, workshop, and Joint Powers Board meetings.
✅ Set the City Council Strategic Planning Session for September 2, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
✅ Approved a professional services contract with KLM Engineering, Inc. for rehabilitation of Water Tower No. 3.
✅ Approved the purchase of a 2019 Chevy Tahoe SSV to serve as the Fire Department Duty Command Vehicle and authorized the sale of Grass Trucks 14 and 16.
✅ Welcomed Aundrey Wallace to the City team with approval of his appointment as Streets/Parks Operator II.
✅ Approved amendments to the City of Big Lake Street Naming Policy.
✅ Approved a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for continued participation in the Towards Zero Deaths Traffic Safety Enforcement Program.
✅ Welcomed Zane Pepel to the Big Lake Police Reserve Unit.
✅ Approved a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 49 AFL-CIO.
✅ Approved an outdoor lighting energy and maintenance agreement with Connexus Energy for the Prairie Rose development.
✅ Approved a change order for material testing services associated with the 2026 Street and Utility Project.
✅ Heard from the Big Lake Ambassador Program during its annual presentation to the City Council.
✅ Gave Vincent Kaczor the green light to move forward with his Eagle Scout project to construct an archery range at River Oaks Park, with support from Public Works.
✅ Held a public hearing and approved a drainage and utility easement vacation, simple subdivision, and special lot combination agreement for Corner Oaks Dental.
✅ Reviewed and provided feedback on a Concept PUD Plan for The Preserve of Big Lake.
✅ Approved Capstone Homes, Inc.’s request for early issuance of building permits for four lots in the Prairie Rose subdivision prior to installation of public improvements.
✅ Heard an update from Student Liaison Adelyn Gosewisch on what’s happening at Big Lake Schools.
